BTW I'm on Switch and they could absolutely work around the swap issue if they want.

But its disappointing for us that played before and expected a clean port like they were advertising.
#TORCHLIGHT 2 BUILDS PS4 SERIES#
I think the game is still great for those that are unfamiliar with Torchlight series or never played TL2 on PC. Almost feels like false advertising by lie of omission. But to buy it and have to find out that game play elements are missing by playing the game is on them and not cool. If they were upfront about missing game play elements and I bought it that's on me. I feel the exact same about many of the issues you brought up. Perfect World and Panic Button should be held accountable to provide the product they advertised- Torchlight 2, on console.

TL DR I didn't pay for a half-baked port of Torchlight 2 with features from the PC game removed without warning. I dearly hope they give it the love and care it deserves. The " Act 1/2/etc." title popups are also missing, and it all adds up to make the game feel like a shell of its former self. Boss titles and area/region titles no longer have that glorious fanfare, and don't appear at all. But as it stands, the console verson runs well and it's fun, but it is a watered-down half-baked shadow of the game it is on PC.Īnd I haven't even mentioned the bugs and issues that, while not affecting the gameplay in a large way, definitely bring the experience down quite a bit. It could be great on console, a classic to rival Diablo and the other popular ARPGs.

#TORCHLIGHT 2 BUILDS PS4 PATCH#
Again, I really hope they'll step up and take responsibility, and patch up the game. Maybe we'll feel like bringing the game up to par with the PC version, maybe we won't, but we already have your money!"ĭramatic, I know. That reads a little too closely to, "well, we did our part and patched it, have fun with the half-baked release. It's something that we might look into if we release a larger patch in the future, but it has a lot of edge cases that we would need to address, and a lot more work than immediately perceived." We removed this due to complexity on console of swapping two entire sets via controller.

"For gear swapping: The PC version allows you to have two weapon sets.
#TORCHLIGHT 2 BUILDS PS4 FULL#
Want an Engineer who uses cannons and heavy weapons? Want a Berserker who switches to heavy weapons at full charge? Want an Embermage who uses a staff to debuff bosses and wands for mobbing? Too bad, that feature's gone.Īnd this response from Perfect World isn't exactly reassuring. This makes hybrid builds pretty much impossible to play smoothly. This is a big deal for many players, myself included. Gear sets and gear set swapping were intentionally removed. This doesn't change much, unless you really micromanaged your pet's health and wanted to see their travel time and status without going into an inventory screen. Pet status and stats were intentionally removed. There is no alternate slot set or ability set toggle, severely limited moveset on the console version. The only control binding is in mapping abilities and items to eight slots. You're left to figure it out for yourself as you go. There is hardly any control customization, and you can't even see what the controls do. The UI and menus are a bit clunky, though that's to be expected. So if you're considering Torchlight 2 on console, and you've already enjoyed it on PC, I recommend you heed the following list of changed/removed features. And, unfortunately, I didn't get what I paid for :( I pre-ordered and paid for the same game I've enjoyed for years on PC, on console. I did not pay money for " Torchlight 2: Lite" or " Torchlight 2: Removed Features Edition". The bigger issues here are how Perfect World and Panic Button will support the game post-launch they have the opportunity to fix it up, patch it up, and make it into a proper release that equals the PC version, and I hope they choose to do that. PW handled it well and it's a thing of the past now. Suffice to say, the game launched around 12 hours after it was planned to be available, and was unplayable by many for longer than that. I won't even linger on the launch situation. Torchlight 2 on console is the same game as it is on PC, but lack of certain features that were in the game from its release seven years ago, as well as many unfortunate bugs and issues, all add up together to make it a less than magical experience. I'm only as critical as I am because I wholeheartedly adore this game, and I was wishing and hoping for a console release for years. This is not a shitpost trashing the game.
